A little prep before installation day makes the whole flooring installation process faster, smoother, and less stressful - for you and for our crew. Here's exactly what we ask homeowners across Lockport, Plainfield, and the surrounding suburbs to handle before we arrive.
Clear the Space
Every item needs to come out of the rooms being floored - furniture, rugs, floor lamps, and anything in closets that sits on the floor. For large furniture, let us know ahead of time and we can discuss moving heavier pieces as part of the job. An empty room lets our crew work efficiently and protects your belongings from dust and debris.
Protect What's Staying
Wall-mounted art, mirrors, and shelves near the work area can shake loose from vibration during installation, especially with nail-down or demo work. Take down anything fragile on adjoining walls, and remove breakables from nearby shelves as a precaution.
Plan for Pets and Kids
Installation involves tools, adhesives, and open doors for material and debris - not a safe environment for curious pets or little ones. Arrange for them to be at daycare, with a family member, or in a closed-off part of the house that's not part of the project.
Think About Access
Let us know about stairs, tight hallways, or anything that could slow down carrying materials in and old flooring out. If you're on a street with limited parking - common in older Lockport and Joliet neighborhoods - clearing a spot near the driveway helps our crew get set up faster.
What to Expect From Us
- We protect adjacent flooring and walkways before work begins.
- Old flooring removal and disposal is handled as part of the job when needed.
- We clean up thoroughly at the end of each day, not just the last one.
- You'll get a clear timeline up front - no vague 'a few days' estimates.
